Leaves, pollen, grass clippings, and organic debris float on the pond surface before becoming waterlogged and sinking. Once they sink and decompose they release ammonia and nitrates — toxic to fish, nutrients for algae, and a major driver of sludge buildup. A pond skimmer captures this material at the surface, before decomposition begins, and intercepts it in a net you empty during routine maintenance.
This collection includes standalone skimmer boxes and complete pond kits that include a matched skimmer. Choose your path below.
You have an existing pond, or are custom-building. You need just the skimmer component — not a complete kit. Available in multiple weir widths from 6" to 15" across Aquascape, Atlantic, Blue Thumb, and EasyPro. Use the finder below to identify the right model.
Building a new ecosystem pond from scratch. A complete kit bundles a matched skimmer, BioFalls biological filter, pump, liner, and all plumbing — factory-sized to work together. Atlantic, EasyPro, and Blue Thumb complete kits are stocked here and in our pond kits collection.
Replacing the pump inside your existing skimmer, or adding a pump to pair with a new skimmer box. The Atlantic TidalWave3 TT3000/TT4000/TT5000 and Aquascape Ultra 1500 are compact, high-efficiency submersibles designed for skimmer housing applications.
A pond skimmer box is the mechanical filtration stage of any ecosystem pond. It sits at the pond edge, buried so the weir door sits at the water surface, and continuously draws in surface water — and everything floating on it — through a debris net and filter media before the pump pushes clean water to the biological filter. Without a skimmer, organic debris settles to the bottom and decomposes, releasing the nutrients that fuel chronic algae growth and the ammonia that stresses fish.
Sizing a pond skimmer comes down to two numbers: pond surface area (square feet) and pump flow rate (GPH at operating head height). Every skimmer has a rated maximum GPH it can handle — run your pump above that rating and the skimmer overflows or creates backpressure. Run it significantly below and the weir door won't draw the surface effectively. The target is to match your skimmer's rated flow range to your pump's actual output at head height, not the pump's zero-head maximum. The sizing table below maps pond size to the correct skimmer model across all four brands we carry.
For shoppers building a new ecosystem pond from scratch: the complete pond kits in this collection (Atlantic PK series, EasyPro Pro-Series, Atlantic-OASE Clear Water kits) already include a factory-matched skimmer and BioFalls. If you're building from components or replacing an existing skimmer, the standalone skimmer boxes below are the right place to start.
Rule: Match the skimmer's max flow rating to your pump's real GPH at head height. Size up — not down — when between sizes or in high-debris environments.

The right skimmer placed in the wrong location will still underperform. Placement is as important as sizing.

Three models — SS 200 (up to 3,000 GPH), SS 400 (up to 4,000 GPH / 400 sq ft), and SS 1000 (up to 10,000 GPH / 1,000 sq ft). Patented snap-together installation, adjustable faceplate for post-install water level correction, locking weir door that lets you drain the skimmer for maintenance without shutting off the pump, and injection-molded bulkhead fittings. The most widely installed professional skimmer in North America. Compatible with all Aquascape BioFalls, pumps, and fittings. Limited lifetime warranty.
Best for: Aquascape system owners · DIY-friendly installs · Widest aftermarket support
Four PS models — PS3900 (up to 3,000 GPH), PS4600 (2,000–4,000 GPH), PS7000 (4,000–7,000 GPH / 900 sq ft), and PS15000 (7,000–15,000 GPH / 1,400 sq ft). Built from high-molecular-weight polyethylene (stronger than standard HDPE), heavy-duty stainless steel-framed debris trap net, oversized brush panels, Super Flow weir door, and a lid that supports rock camouflage and foot traffic. Optional Gate Keeper brush panel restricts fish and frogs from entering — a key feature for koi ponds. Pairs with Atlantic FilterFalls for a matched system. Lifetime warranty on enclosure.
Best for: Koi ponds · Atlantic system owners · High-debris environments · Contractor builds
Three models — 8" (PB1199), 10" (PB1137), and 15" (PB1144) weir widths. All include a natural rock lid that blends into landscape far more seamlessly than faux rock alternatives — a meaningful aesthetic advantage for ponds where the skimmer is visible from living spaces or decking. Matched components for all Blue Thumb Elite pond kits and cascading falls systems. Pairs with Blue Thumb Elite BioFalls for a complete filtration loop.
Best for: Blue Thumb system builds · Landscape-visible installations · DIY pond kits
EasyPro's Axiom Pro-Series skimmer delivers professional-grade debris capture and flow handling at a strong value price point. Reinforced construction, quality debris net, and effective weir door design make it reliable for medium-to-large pond builds. The matched component for all EasyPro Pro-Series pond kits. If you're building an EasyPro system from scratch, the Pro-Series kits include this skimmer already paired — buying it standalone makes sense for replacements and custom builds.
Best for: EasyPro Pro-Series system owners · Value-focused medium ponds
