The 78252 is a complete fountain kit. It includes:

• AquaBasin® 30 — 27-gallon (102-litre) sub-surface water basin (30"L×30"W×12"H; Lifetime Warranty); basin skirt included

• Pre-cut kink-free pipe and fittings for a complete installation

The kit is designed to be installed in a couple of hours. Simply set the AquaBasin® 30 in the desired location, position the urn atop the basin over the pre-drilled plumbing hole, connect the kink-free pipe from the pump to the urn's internal tube, fill with water, and plug in the pump.

The AquaBasin® 30 stores 27 gallons (102 litres) of water. Because it is a sub-surface basin — set in or near the ground rather than exposed in open air — algae growth is significantly reduced by the lack of direct sunlight reaching the water.

Key maintenance tasks:

• Water top-off: Evaporation will lower the water level over time. In warm months, the 27-gallon basin may need refilling every few days depending on your climate, sun exposure, and splash. Check the water level regularly through the basin's pump access panel and top off with a garden hose as needed. Running the pump dry can damage it.
• Pump cleaning: Periodically clean the pump intake to remove debris buildup.
• Seasonal: Drain the basin and store the pump for winter in cold climates (see winterization FAQ).

In climates with freezing temperatures, properly winterizing protects both the urn and the pump:

• Drain the basin: Completely empty the AquaBasin® 30. Use the pump access panel for easy access. Leaving water in the basin can cause it to freeze and potentially damage the basin walls (though the high-density polyethylene construction is quite durable).
• Remove and store the pump: Take the Ultra pump out of the basin and store it submerged in a bucket of water in a frost-free area (garage, basement). Pumps that freeze dry can suffer seal and impeller damage.
• Drain the urn: Tip or empty any water remaining in the urn's water channel. Cover the urn opening with a cover or cap to prevent water from collecting and freezing inside the kink-free pipe during winter.
• Spring start-up: Reinstall the pump, refill the basin, and run the fountain briefly to confirm full operation before leaving it unattended.

Yes. The 78252 Stacked Slate Urn is compatible with the Aquascape Fire Fountain Add-On Kit (SKU #78221, sold separately). The Fire Fountain Add-On Kit transforms the urn into a fire-and-water feature — water cascades over the stacked slate exterior while a fire flame burns from the top. The kit includes a fire pot holder, fire pot, cover, wick, and wick ring. Paraffin or citronella fuel is sold separately and provides over an hour of use per fill.

For nighttime illumination without fire, Aquascape LED lighting accessories are also available to illuminate the water flow and feature in the evening hours.

The AquaBasin® 30 is the right choice for the 33.5" urn — it provides the right balance of water volume and footprint for this fountain size. The AquaBasin® 45 is a much larger installation basin used with medium and large fountain kits and waterfall features.

Yes. Beyond the standard stand-alone fountain kit installation, the Stacked Slate Urn can be placed within an existing pond or waterfall feature for a unique landscape element. In this configuration, the urn sits in the pond with the pump inside, and water cascades from the top back into the pond rather than into a separate basin.

For this type of installation, the AquaBasin® 30 in the kit is not needed (the pond itself serves as the reservoir). The Fire Fountain Add-On Kit (SKU #78221) is also compatible with in-pond installations, adding a dramatic fire-over-water effect.
