• Water enters the canister and flows through a chamber of BioBalls
• BioBalls trap debris as water passes through them, while also providing high-surface-area colonization sites for beneficial bacteria

Yes. The integrated 14-Watt T5 UV Clarifier destroys the single-celled algae responsible for green water. UV light disrupts algae DNA, preventing reproduction and causing cells to clump together so they can be trapped by the BioBalls.

The swirl sleeve maximizes UV effectiveness by creating a helical water flow pattern inside the UV chamber — water spirals around the lamp rather than flowing straight past it, dramatically increasing the contact time between water and UV light at the same wattage.

For best results, ensure your pond has adequate shade, avoid overfeeding fish, and maintain the UV bulb on an annual replacement schedule. The UV on/off LED indicator confirms the clarifier is actively running at all times.

The asynchronous motor combines the electrical efficiency of a magnetically-driven pump with the flow rates of a conventional motor — saving hundreds of dollars in electricity costs compared to direct-drive pumps of equivalent flow. The protective pre-filter cage allows the pump to be placed directly in the pond, while solids up to 1/4” pass through to the filter for removal via backwash. The AquaForce 2700 also doubles as a winter pond de-icer by maintaining water circulation to prevent surface ice formation.

The Electronic Bulb-Saver is a hardware timer integrated into the UltraKlean filter. It allows you to set the UV lamp to operate on 6-, 12-, or 24-hour cycles rather than continuously.

Two key benefits:

• Extends UV bulb life: UV T5 lamps have a finite on/off cycle life in addition to a total hours rating. Cycling the lamp rather than leaving it on 24/7 reduces thermal stress and extends the replacement interval.

Yes. The pressurized canister can be placed on level ground or buried up to 1” below the lid clips — sufficient to conceal it in a rock or mulch bed while keeping the lid accessible for backwash and maintenance.

Because it’s a pressurized filter (water is pumped in under pressure from the AquaForce 2700), the filter does not need to sit below the pond water level. You can place it:

• In a garden bed alongside the pond
• Behind a retaining wall or decorative rock
• At an elevation above the pond (to push water up to a waterfall spillway)
• Partially buried for a concealed landscape appearance

The Aquascape UltraKlean family comes in three kit sizes:

The 95059 is the right choice for most medium backyard ponds and water gardens in the 1,500–2,500 gallon range. For larger ponds or heavy fish loads, consider the 95060.

Yes. The UltraKlean 2500 system is fully fish- and plant-safe:

• The AquaForce 2700 uses an oil-free motor design — no risk of oil contamination in the pond water
• The BioBalls and filter canister contain no chemicals or materials harmful to aquatic life
• The UV clarifier targets only free-floating single-celled algae. It does not harm beneficial bacteria in the pond substrate, does not affect fish, and does not damage aquatic plants
• The biological filtration supports the nitrogen cycle by providing surface area for beneficial bacteria that convert ammonia (from fish waste) into nitrite and then nitrate

Aquascape recommends replacing the 14W T5 UV bulb annually for consistent green-water control. UV lamps degrade in output over time — even when the lamp is still visibly glowing, its UV intensity drops below the threshold needed to destroy algae after approximately 9,000–12,000 hours of operation.

The electronic bulb-saver timer extends bulb life by cycling the lamp rather than running it continuously — but annual replacement is still the recommended maintenance interval. Replacement T5 UV bulbs and quartz sleeves are available from Aquascape and stocked by Pond Pro Direct.
