Description
The Atlantic TT4000 TidalWave3 (Atlantic Item 73927 / PPD SKU 90383) is a fully submersible asynchronous pond pump delivering 4,490 GPH at a maximum head of 20 feet, drawing just 230 watts at 2.0 amps. The TT4000 combines magnetic induction efficiency with direct drive geometry to move more water per watt than conventional pump designs — making it Atlantic’s benchmark mid-range TidalWave3 model for pond waterfalls, skimmers, and stream systems. Compact at 9¼”L × 6”W × 7”H, it fits the tightest skimmer and pump vault installations and can run vertically or horizontally. 1.5” MIPT inlet, 1.5” FIPT outlet with a 1”–1.5” step fitting included. Submersible only — must be fully submerged at all times. cULus listed (E318238). 3-year warranty.
Why Choose the Atlantic TT4000 TidalWave3?
- 4,490 GPH at 230 watts — more water per watt: The TT4000’s asynchronous motor combines magnetic induction efficiency with direct drive geometry, delivering up to 35% energy savings over Atlantic’s TW-Series at the same flow. At 230W draw for 4,490 GPH, running costs are significantly lower than comparably sized conventional pumps.
- Compact design fits tight installations: At 9¼”L × 6”W × 7”H, the TT4000 fits the tightest skimmer pump chambers and pump vault canyons. Runs vertically or horizontally, enabling multiple-pump configurations where space is limited.
- Hard water tolerant & clog-resistant: Designed specifically for real-world pond conditions including high mineral content water. Ribs and large openings in the pre-filter and handle provide maximum surface area for clog resistance, reducing maintenance and extending pump life. Excellent performance in Indiana’s hard water environment.
- Water-cooled asynchronous rotor — fully submerged operation: The asynchronous rotor is water-cooled through a dedicated cooling screen. This design is what enables the TT4000’s exceptional efficiency — and why full submersion is required at all times. Periodic cleaning of both the pre-filter intake screen and rotor cooling screen is the primary maintenance task.
- Quarter-turn volute — tool-free impeller access: The volute (pump housing) rotates a quarter-turn to open, giving direct access to the impeller for cleaning or inspection without any tools. Servicing takes minutes, not hours.
- TWVSC variable speed compatible: The TT4000 is fully compatible with the Atlantic TWVSC Variable Speed Controller (sold separately), allowing flow adjustment from 30–100% without changing hardware. Ideal for seasonal flow reduction or tuning waterfall volume.
- 3-year warranty — Atlantic Water Gardens: Backed by a 3-year manufacturer warranty. cULus listed (Safety Listing E318238).

⚠ Connection step-up: TT1500–TT4000 use 1½” MIPT/FIPT connections. TT5000 and above use 2” MIPT/FIPT — upgrading from TT4000 to TT5000 requires replumbing connection fittings.
Frequently Asked Questions
What are the advantages of the TT4000 asynchronous motor?
The TT4000’s asynchronous motor combines the efficiency of magnetic induction with the torque of direct drive geometry. This allows it to deliver up to 35% energy savings over Atlantic’s previous TW-Series at equivalent flow rates, making it the ideal choice for 24/7 continuously operated water features where electricity costs matter.
Because it is asynchronous, the TT4000 is fully compatible with the Atlantic TWVSC Variable Speed Controller (sold separately), which allows flow adjustment from 30–100% of maximum — useful for tuning waterfall volume seasonally or reducing flow during winter months.
The asynchronous rotor is water-cooled, which is the source of the pump’s efficiency advantage — and the reason the pump must be fully submerged at all times of operation.
What is the GPH flow rate at different head heights?
The TT4000 is rated at 4,490 GPH at 0 feet of head. Flow decreases as head height increases. Based on the Atlantic TT4000 performance curve:
- 0 ft: 4,490 GPH
- 5 ft: approximately 3,850 GPH
- 10 ft: approximately 3,100 GPH
- Maximum head: 20 ft (flow approaches zero)
For most residential pond waterfalls, plan for actual head height (vertical rise from pump to waterfall top) plus friction loss from pipe length and elbows. A pump producing 3,500–4,000 GPH at your working head is a realistic planning target for the TT4000.
Can the TT4000 handle solids and debris?
The TT4000 is designed for clog resistance in real pond conditions. Ribs and large openings in the pre-filter screen and pump handle provide substantial surface area that prevents debris bridging while keeping abrasive particles away from the rotor. The TT-Series is also specifically engineered for hard water tolerance — resisting mineral fouling that shortens pump life in high-mineral environments.
The pre-filter intake screen is removable for cleaning. The quarter-turn volute provides tool-free access to the impeller for inspection or clearing if needed. For heavy debris loads, installing the pump inside a skimmer or pump vault provides an additional pre-filtration layer.
Is the TT4000 safe for fish and aquatic plants?
Yes. The TT4000 is completely oil-free — the motor contains no oil that could leak into the water. The pump is water-cooled through an internal rotor cooling screen, which means the water in contact with the pump is the same pond water your fish and plants live in, with no risk of contamination from pump lubricants.
The pump is not approved for use in swimming pools or salt water. For standard freshwater ponds with koi, goldfish, and aquatic plants, the TT4000 is a safe, fish-friendly choice.
What size plumbing is required for the TT4000?
The TT4000 has a 1.5” MIPT inlet and a 1.5” FIPT outlet. A 1”–1.5” step fitting is included to accommodate flexible hose connections at either size. For maximum flow and minimum friction loss, we recommend 1.5” flexible PVC pipe from pump outlet to waterfall or filter head.
Important: The TT4000 does not have a 2” outlet — 2” connections begin with the TT5000. If your existing plumbing is 2”, a reducer fitting will be needed, or consider the TT5000 (Item 73928) for a direct 2” drop-in.
How long is the cord and what is the warranty?
The TT4000 comes with a 20-foot power cord. The pump requires a properly grounded, GFCI-protected 115V outlet. Do not use an extension cord — if the outlet is not within 20 feet of the pump installation, a licensed electrician should install a dedicated outlet at the correct location.
Atlantic Water Gardens backs the TT4000 with a 3-year manufacturer warranty. The pump is cULus listed (Safety Listing E318238). Warranty is void if the pump is operated outside of water or in salt water.
