The Kasco 2400AF is designed for ponds and tanks with surface areas up to 1/2 acre. Kasco uses a standard rule of thumb of 1 HP per surface acre for the AF aerator series — making the 1/2 HP 2400AF the matched recommendation for 1/2-acre coverage. For ponds significantly larger than 1/2 acre, consider the 3400AF (3/4 HP, 3/4 acre) or 4400AF (1 HP, 1 acre). For heavy fish loads or chronic algae problems at 1/2 acre, upsizing to the 3400AF may produce better results than running a 2400AF at maximum capacity.
Is this aerator available in 240V?
No — the Kasco 2400AF is available in 120V only. Unlike the 3/4 HP and 1 HP models (which each have a 240V HAF variant), Kasco does not manufacture a 240V version of the 1/2 HP aerator. Can the 2400AF operate in shallow water?
Yes — the 2400AF has a minimum operating depth of 15 inches, making it the most shallow-capable unit in the Kasco AF aerator series (the 3400AF and 4400AF require 17.5"). This makes the 2400AF well-suited for retention ponds, farm ponds with variable depth, and installations where the aerator may drift toward shallow shoreline areas in wind. Is the bottom screen included?
No — the bottom screen is an optional accessory, not included with the 2400AF. The bottom screen mounts below the float to prevent the open propeller from ingesting large debris. No — the C-25 control panel is an optional accessory. The 2400AF plugs directly into a GFCI-protected 120V outlet without a panel.
